More than 1,800 delegates and 420 ex-officio Liberals have gathered at the former Maple Leaf Gardens to choose a new party leader and premier, to replace Dalton McGuinty.
The morning has started off with speeches from all six candidates.
First-round voting results are expected to be announced just after noon, when the speeches are done.
Voting will then continue, round after round, until one candidate gets more than 50 per cent of the vote.
While the voting takes place inside, protestors have gathered outside, on Carlton St. A crowd of protestors made it difficult for delegates to enter the building as they arrived for the day.
The protests are expected to get much rowdier throughout the day. More than 130 buses will be dropping off union members from across the province.
Sid Ryan with the Ontario Federation of Labour says that 20,000 or more people could show up.
