A grisly discovery in Kitchener, where a human torso has turned up in a garbage bin behind an apartment building.

The body part was found by citizens on Saturday.

Police say the torso belongs to a white woman, her age & identity aren't known.  An autopsy set for Monday could start to answer some of those questions.

The torso was found dressed in a black T-shirt emblazoned with the words "Forget princess I want to be a vampire".

Terre Chartrand lives next door to where the torso was found.  She tells Newstalk 1010 the discovery is "really surprising" given the calm, family-oriented neighbourhood.

Chartrand says it's the kind of neighbourhood where everyone sits on their front porches & knows each other.  She says no one seems particularly worried about their safety, because the discovery of a torso is so out of character for the neighbourhood.
