They met for around 49 minutes - give or take a few seconds - and while they wouldn't say if incoming Premier Kathleen Wynne was measuring Dalton McGuinty's office just yet, the transition at Queen's Park has begun.

McGuinty and Wynne embraced in front of his second floor office, kissed on the cheek and made their way inside. While the door still says "Hon. Dalton McGuinty, Premier of Ontario" on it, when they emerged, the outgoing premier joked that Wynne said she will be keeping the paint colours.

Right before Christmas, McGuinty joked he just doesn't want his replacement to screw things up but on Monday underlined he has confidence in the party's new leader. McGuinty said he was very proud of her.

Wynne was all smiles despite a busy day, which includes preparing to chair her first caucus meeting on Tuesday, as well as speaking to opposition, mayors around the province and her advisors.
