Incoming Premier to Speak with Teacher Union Heads

Posted By: Katie Franzios · 1/29/2013 4:36:00 PM

Incoming Premier Kathleen Wynne says she will meet with the province's public elementary and secondary teachers' unions in the next two days.

Speaking on the the Live Drive with John Tory, Wynne says she reached out to the presidents of both the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) and the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO). She says they won't be speaking about specifics yet but rather will focus on starting up the conversation between the province and teachers again.

Wynne says she will underline there isn't any more money but extra curricular activities need to get back in the province's schools. Teachers have been holding them back as a form of protest against legislated contracts.

She adds she also wants to find a better contract process in the future.

How about this. Here's what taxpayers can afford to pay Teachers. Accept it or look for another job, and we'll look for another Teacher Also, you can choose whether or not to be in a union or not.
