VIDEO: Man Assaulted on TTC Streetcar
A man who was badly beaten by several kids armed with feet, fists and skateboards won't be getting any retribution from the legal system.
Wednesday night a man got on to the eastbound King Streetcar after being pelted outside the vehicle by some kind of refuse from kids on the car.
The man addressed the kids and shortly after he was swarmed by them, and pushed off the streetcar and beaten up.
Several witnesses called police, but the kids were able to get away without being caught.
The man, didn't want medical attention and got back on board the vehicle.
Police didn't ask the TTC for a copy of the closed circuit camera footage allegedly because no victim came forward.
But in cases where a physical altercation has occured on TTC vehicles, the operator is supposed to let Transit Control know, otherwise the camera footage could be taped over.
In this case, the operator did not notify TTC Transit control, and so the footage has since been lost.
TTC Spokesman Brad Ross says it's not clear why protocol was not followed and the service is looking into why it wasn't.
