No Ford-Wynne Super Bowl hangout

Posted By: Siobhan Morris · 2/3/2013 3:22:00 PM

Rob Ford won't be splitting a plate of chicken wings with Ontario Liberal leader Kathleen Wynne after all.

The mayor revealed on Newstalk 1010's The City he'd invited the Premier-designate to a Super Bowl bash at councillor Norm Kelly's house.

Ford says "hopefully she'll take me up on the offer".

But a spokesperson for Wynne told Newstalk 1010 late Sunday afternoon "she's spending some quality time with her family and grand kids."

Ford says he extended the invitation to Wynne during a "great" phone conversation Friday.

In an e-mail, Wynne's spokesperson writes "The Premier-designate and Mayor Ford talked about the Super Bowl during a phone call on Friday. She asked him if he and his brother had a friendly bet on the game as the two teams are also coached by brothers."

Kathleen Wynne will be sworn is as Ontario's 1st female Premier & Canada' first openly provincial leader February 11th.

Kathleen Wynne would as likely show up at a place with Rob Ford as would the Mayor show up at a Gay Pride Parade!

and who could blame him for not showing up at PRIDE? Don't think he has any interest in seeing naked and half naked men. Just does not turn him on. That is not to say he is homophobic, as he did after all invite Ms. Wynne to watch the game with him.

@Common sense @common sense...Exactly, that is a ridiculous argument against him. He's no more homophobic than I am,and I am not homophobic at all. I don't like parades gay or otherwise an I would much rather be at a cottage on a long weekend in the summer. It is as simple as that. There is no homophobia going on.

I still think he should have gone to the pride parade. A small, simple gesture goes a long way towards creating respect. 1 day out of a summer not at the cottage surely wouldn't have inflicted hardship on him or his family.

As for Ford & Wynne, I'm sure they're pretty familiar with each other given their backgrounds in Toronto politics.
