*UPDATE* City Audit Committee Looks at Mammoliti's Books

Posted By: Newstalk 1010 · 2/5/2013 5:30:00 AM

Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti may have contravened the Municipal Elections Act.

The audit was released last month, and shows the City Councillor for Ward 7, topped the allowed spending limit in the last municipal election, by more than 12 thousand dollars.

That works out to about 40%.

The limit is just over 27 thousand dollars.

The three person audit committee heard both sides of the case Monday afternoon at city hall and decided to move the case on to a special prosecutor.

It's now up to the special prosecutor to decide whether or not they will proceed with non-criminal charges.

It's all part of the conspiracy! Someone on the left cooked his books!

On a serious note, it is funny how someone can suddenly look crazy once you hear them say some crazy things. If I saw that picture prior to the whole phone tapping accusation I wouldn't think anything of the face he is making, but now I just see crazy.

@Brandon Pure crazy. Also, since we're doing the do with the auditor, go through ALL elected reps please. I know we'd be better off without all of them. Thank you!

@Brandon Brandon... you got part of it correct... "It''s all part of the conspiracy!"

Just WHO is this teacher who got a call from SOMEONE suggesting that Mammolitie's spending on the election was over the allowed amount?? So he ( the teacher- sorry did not get his name) would try and teach his pupils "fairness"!!! What about moral conscience ! Can he teach about that as well.Honestly.SOMEONE called and suggested he check up on Mammoilitie!!!!! As another poster commented, ALL council should have to go through an audit now, considering we are all aware of the witch hunt going on at city hall.. ALL shud have 2 go through this !

@Kate You are so right Kate. You have to wonder who these "concerned citizens" are and why would they wake up one morning and say," I think there is some crooked stuff going on with certain councillor's/mayors campaign funds, I'm going to have it investigated". It's actually laughable. And yes, every last one of them should be audited. Could make for some good fireworks.

@Kate So, you seem to be a concerned citizen, why don't you do something about what you are stating and get some audits going against other councilors?

this former teacher was on John Moore show. I heard intro, interview and at no time while I listened did I hear John mention this guy was a former activist. Only heard it from Dave Agar on news.

Very disappointed that Moore wouldn't mention it as it has significance despite the issue at hand, especially when Moore asks him if he's part of a conspiracy group. Very unimpressed with Moore's omission. The question about leftist councillors exceeding spending during election was a farce, especially when the teacher mentioned he asked some "group" and they said no, the "group" in question undoubtedly being some left-wing group that likely never looked at all or hard enough.

I have no idea of Mammoliti's guilt or innocence in this matter, I'm just sick and tired of the constant attacks on the rightist councillors by people on the left, likely living off our tax dollars (in some fashion or another) with their FREE access to whatever legal support they need.

This teacher kept referring to wanting a "level playing field" for all candidates during an election. Okay let's have EVERY SINGLE COUNCILLOR treated with exactly the same electron microscope.

Problem is those of us supporting rightist councillors have to work for a living, mostly in the private sector, where we don't have the time to spend chasing these matters, nor do we have lawyers offering their time for free.

      @proton Couldn't agree more.

Of those audited, it appears that the average overspent is 44%. Unless we audit all, or at least a statistically representative sample, it could be that the amount Mammoliti overspent is actually less than the average.

as part of the investigation this teacher's phone should be part of the evidence it will take no effort from Bell to show the police all calls that he receieved that day to find out who this person with the hot tip was and the records will show if he spoke to fair elections toronto before the hot tip. I do not believe he received a hot tip ,is he willing to take a lie detector test, this story sounds absurd, he states the truth is important and that is why he did so he should have to problem taking a lie detector test and have is phone looked into; teacher time to tell it to Maury not john moore.
