Developer Wants to Make Captain John's Restaurant Into Floating Casino; and Move it to Hamilton
She has been sitting idle on Lake Ontario at Yonge St. and Queens Quay for years; accumulating layers of rust.
But if one Hamilton developer has his way Captain John's floating restaurant won't be there much longer.
Dan Maga says he'd like to move the floating restauarant to Hamilton and build a casino on board. Maga tells the Hamilton Spectator he intends to put a bid with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming corporation to run a casino on board the old ship.
Maga says that even if that falls through, he would still like to open a restaurant and banquet centre.
It's not clear however whether Maga is willing to meet Letnik's price on the vessel, or whether the $568,000 in back taxes Letnik owes is a part of the deal.
