Storm expected to bring 15 centimetres of snow
A winter storm will hit the Toronto area just in time to complicate the tail end of Thursday's drive home and the Friday morning commute to work.
Environment Canada has a winter storm water, saying two weather systems, an Alberta clipper and a low pressure system coming up from Texas, will combine to bring significant snowfall to most of southern Ontario starting Thursday evening and will continue into Friday morning.
About 2-3 centimetres of snow is expected on Thursday night but accumulation will ramp up into Friday morning.
"I'm guessing there will be about 15 centimetres of snow in the GTA. In one day, that's the most we've had in 2 years," says forecaster Dave Phillips.
Environment Canada is uncertain about the exact track of the storm, which will affect the timing and snow amounts for each surrounding regions.
