It appears dozens of planes, full of passengers are stuck on the tarmac at Pearson International Airport.
One passenger, Lou called into Friendly Fire on Friday evening to say that he had been stuck on board his landed plane for four hours.
Several others called the show to say they too, were in the same predicament. Some estimated that there were at least 30 planes on the ground with passengers on board.
An unnamed GTAA source says the airport has also issued a Ground Stop. That means that planes were not permitted to land at Pearson. Many of those planes were not being diverted elsewhere.
One person who identified himself as a worker at Pearson suggested that there were mountains of snow piled up at some of the gates exacerbating the problem.
Officials at Pearson or Air Canada were unavailable for comment at this time.
