Freezing rain and possible flooding make for a tricky drive
The big concern during the morning rush hour on Monday will be water, and lots of it.
The almost 30 cm of snow we received on Friday will begin melting as the high climbs above zero and the danger with that, is flooding and pooling.
As of 5 a.m. on Monday, there were reports of large puddles of water on the southbound Don Valley Parkway near the Bayview/Bloor ramp. Same thing reported on sections of the Gardiner Expressway near Humber.
That's not the only concern, northern York Region and northern Durham Region were both put under freezing rain warnings, but they were called off after 6:40 a.m. Some texted into the NewsTalk 1010 studios saying that areas of Richmond Hill were extremely icy.
After 4 a.m. there were reports of a car spinning out of control on the southbound Highway 404 near Bloomington Road in Aurora.
However, Environment Canada's statement said that the freezing rain will turn into pure rainfall at some point during the morning hours.
