Extra Curricular Talks Continue

Posted By: Katie Franzios · 2/14/2013 5:04:00 PM

The province has wrapped up its meeting with the province's high school teachers for the day with no change on the extra curricular front.

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) says it was a productive discussion that lasted several hours. The OSSTF maintains they are moving forward.

Just 24 hours earlier, premier Kathleen Wynne's transition team met with school board representatives and the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO).

The discussions are in an effort to bring extra curricular activities back in schools.

OSSTF says they are in the process of scheduling another meeting with the province next week.

So let me get this straight. TDSB has done a study on what kids are worried about and they want to design programs to address that. At the same time they've withdrawn extra-curricular activities. Guess they don't care after all.

    They must think we're morons!

@proton Well, since TDSB has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not teachers choose to volunteer to run extra-curricular programs, but you, apparently, are mad at them for surveying their students to create curricular programs that address those worries, then you are showing that "they" are right. You seem to be a bit of a moron.

Teachers are not contractually obligated to do extras (hence the term extras) nor are they paid to do them.
