Skateboard could hold key to rail car arson case
The Canadian Pacific Police think a beat-up skateboard could be the key to answers in a year-old arson case.
A rail car with 10 Honda CRVs inside was set ablaze near Ethel Ave & West Toronto St on the night of February 10th 2012,
The fire caused over $400, 000 damage.
Police say the fire may have been started with spray paint. There was graffiti on the burned rail car & others nearby, but police couldn't pinpoint how fresh the tags were.
CP Police want to talk to the owner of a skateboard found next to the burned out car. It's a white bottom deck emblazoned with the word "sanction" in red, though some of the letters are worn off.
The board comes from Sanction, a Toronto snow & skate board shop with 3 locations in the city, including one not far away on Dundas St W at Pacific Ave.
Police say they followed up with Sanction, but couldn't track the owner of the board through the store. Forensic tests didn't turn up any fingerprints either.
CP Police couldn't say if the fire had been set by one person or a group.
If you have any information call CP Police 1-800-716-9132 or contact Crime Stoppers.
