Speech From The Throne To Be Delivered
Despite revealing there will be points of friction with the opposition, Kathleen Wynne has been confident in the days leading up to the Speech from the Throne.
The premier hopes opposition leaders will give her game plan for the upcoming legislative session a nod, with hopes of avoiding an election. However, Wynne says she can't judge what they may do.
Lt. Gov. David Onley will deliver the Speech from the Throne on Tuesday afternoon.
Despite reaching out to opposition leaders to get ideas, Wynne underlines she has still prepared a Liberal Speech from the Throne.
Wynne says she plans to touch base with both opposition leaders after the speech is delivered to continue with their discussions.
The Progressive Conservatives have been pushing for a more detailed deficit reduction and jobs creation plan. PC Economic Development Critic MPP Monte McNaughton underlines Ontario needs change and so far, he hasn't seen new ideas from Wynne to address the province's finances.
The NDP have a wait and see attitude when it comes to the Speech from the Throne.
NDP House leader Gilles Bisson says they will be looking for some of their proposals on curbing youth unemployment, closing corporate tax loopholes and improving homecare.
