Note Written by Richard Kachkar Entered into Evidence
On the 9th day of proceedings in the trial of 46 year-old Richard Kachkar, the crown entered a note written by Kachkar into evidence.
The note was written while Kachkar was in hospital at St. Michael's after hitting and killing Toronto police Sgt. Ryan Russell with a stolen snowplow January 12th, 2011. Kachkar was hit with multiple Tasers and two bullets fired by police shortly after the plow came to a stop for good near Keele and Humberside about an hour after striking Sgt. Russell near Avenue and Davenport.
While in his hospital room, out of the blue, Kachkar made a gesture requesting something to write with and write on.
The note is not completely legible but appears to read: "Somethin was forcing me in my actions. I have never wanted hurt..." and then there are more words the cannot be made out. After what appears to be two attempts, Kachkar then signs his name.
