A Toronto man has been taken to hospital with serious burns after a fire inside a highrise at 570 Birchmount near St.Clair Ave.

Toronto fire officials say the fire happened on the 6th floor inside the kitchen of the apartment and was out when they arrived on scene.

It appears the man walked to a neighbours before meeting with paramedics in the stairwell of his building.

Paramedics took the man to Sunnybrook Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.  No other injuries were reported.
