Toronto Police Searching TCHC Properties

Posted By: Amber Gero · 2/22/2013 8:44:00 AM

NewsTalk 1010 has learned that Toronto Police have been conducting searches of all Toronto Community Housing Properties.  A source tells NewsTalk 1010 that officers have been searching all of the common areas of buildings and complexes looking for drugs and guns, and they’ve found them.

According to the source, police have already seized a number of handguns, sawed of shot guns and drugs which were found hidden in air ducts, ceiling tiles and storage areas.

Police had begun searching properties in 23 Division, which is located in the Finch and Kipling area, Thursday. 15-year-old Jarvis Montaque was gunned down while standing outside his Toronto Community Housing unit on Sunday. Police are still searching for his killer.

While these sweeps are being conducted across the city the majority are expected to be completed by the end of the day Friday.

I still say that the police department should be granted ownership of all community housing buildings, eliminating the need for warrants to search those properties. How lucrative do you think the crack dealer's setup in apartment 133B is going to be when he knows that at any moment, cops could just stroll right in and there's not a damn thing he can do about it?

@Jack thats a rather brilliant idea. i can envision a 'big brother' backlash against that, though.

@Jack Sure, that's JUST what Toronto needs. Corrupt cops running the gangs and slum housing......

Your commitment is not misplaced but you are way un informed about the drug problem in this city. If you want to attack it stop to attack black kids, for they are the least in the equation, go after those that bring it into the city. Even if you stand up today and shut down the entire TCHC complexes you will still have drugs in this city, you will still have guns, and you will still have shot people. Drugs are not a problem only in black community, I have a property in Keswick and do you know how much a problem we have in that small town due to drugs? Do blacks take it there too? Why do they take it there when all records show that they are not up there in such numbers? I have stated before that we have more drugs in this city than sugar which means that it comes in by containers, here is a question for you, who clears it? Black kids? None works in customs. Who clears it at Pearson? Black kids? None works in airport? Drugs come into the city by very powerful people in this city for it is a good lucrative business, and get this, blacks actually do not use it they simply ferry it to make some good easy money in a TCHC slum they so leave in. It will take you a very long while to find a single crack head black kid, my God can you imagine if the rate blacks are arrested with drugs they were doped up to that rate? No they do not use it drugs are used by whites that fear to transport it, and if you are a black neglected by the system, and hated kid with no family for the society hates the family structure, I would also go for its sell and make a quick buck. And look do not get misinformed all these facts have been put one table for these people, they simply cannot attack the sources of these drugs, retired Police Officers, retired politicians, retired customs officers that know the system and feed on it by making killings. And who do you think will go after them? You or the crap Ford? Now when you stand up and raise these issues, the Mayor of Toronto stands up and bleats “I do not know what to do.”

Good leadership Mr. Mayor. Good leadership indeed !!!!!

@EM Yup, you're right EM I think it's the Ford brothers importing in and probably like you say retired police chiefs, judges and politicians because they need to pad their wallets. Of course the only reason that the black youth get involved is to better themselves because they are all so misunderstood.Kudos to them for not having drug problems, just selling it to white crackheads, it almost makes them saintly. Yup, white people bad black people misunderstood. Give me a break you racist idiot.

That is where one goes back and questions if it is black kids bringing it in and selling it, why in all arrests and on all those that have died it is not slowing down at all? Martin groove and Rexdale area had a huge gun problem, police organized a night to go and attack it, they knew the drugs were in they knew guns were in, they surrounded the complexes and got nothing out of it. In fact CFRB read a report that day I forget that the Police found everything gone. Who knew that there was going to be a search that night apart from Police? Go to Martin groove and talk to the community, you will know why Police found nothing. Are you telling me that Police does not have this information? Then I am a racist. Any ways do not worry TCHC buildings have been attacked, we have cleaned up the area and drugs with guns are gone. Let us start on some different city problem this is solved. With minds like yours which are very many in this city, drugs are going to rule till death do apart if your kid dies, whoops !!!!! For we have a society that actually believe that drugs are pumped into Toronto by 15 and 14 year olds. Are you that naïve or just plain stupid? And just asking !!!!!!

The fact of the matter remains no one is comfortable talking about it until when one of his kid gets blown up. And I do not blame them at all.
