Weekend Road Work to Cause Traffic Headaches
If you plan on driving downtown this weekend be prepared for some traffic headaches.
The intersection of Spadina Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard will be partially closed for TTC track work and electrical work from Friday at 10 a.m. to Monday at 5 a.m.
To accommodate the work, the eastbound Gardiner Expressway ramp to Spadina Avenue will be closed.
Motorists who want to exit the eastbound Gardiner can use either the Jameson or York-Bay-Yonge ramps.
The city says during the closure, one eastbound lane of traffic will be maintained on Lake Shore Boulevard. Two lanes of southbound traffic will be maintained on Spadina Avenue, but northbound traffic on Spadina will be closed at Lake Shore Boulevard. A detour for traffic will be available through Rees Street and Bremner Boulevard.
Alternative eastbound routes include Front Street West, King Street West and Adelaide Street West.
Pedestrian access will not be affected.
Meanwhile, there will be no subway service between St George and Union stations this weekend.
The TTC says during the closure, all trains on the University-Spadina subway will turn back north to Downsview Station at St George Station and all trains on the Yonge subway will turn back north to Finch Station at Union Station.
The TTC says customers must use the Yonge Subway to travel to Union Station, and are encouraging them to use the streetcar service or walk between Yonge Street and University Avenue.
Subway service will resume on Monday at 6 a.m.
