Union members gather at the Ex for "fight back" training

Posted By: Justine Lewkowicz · 3/2/2013 9:48:00 AM

About 700 union activists have gathered today at Exhibition Place for "fight back" training. The members are learning how to help defeat what the event calls the "Harper/Hudak attack on workers' rights."

The all-day event was organized by the Toronto Labour Council and members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union are taking part.

The event's flyer says participants will learn how to educate co-workers about the Tory "threat."

Unions are fighting a federal bill that requires extra financial reporting, and the provincial Conservatives' call for labour laws that would allow workers to opt out of joining a union.

Right-to-work and Bill C-377 are going to be the best things to happen to labour in this province in decades.

Also, while these union thugs are learning how to fight the government, where do we go to learn how to fight the unions and stand up for our rights?

these idiots refer to a "Tory threat". Shows how out to lunch they are. The "threat "comes from the common taxpayer who is sick and tired of overpaying the public sector while those of us in the private sector suffer the vagaries of the economy.

Public sector attitude is "tough luck if you're in the private sector", pay more taxes to keep us in our fiscal bubble.

Let's hope the private sector taxpayers prevail

Union members gather at the Ex for advanced training in stealing from the taxpayers while avoiding doing any work

These union thugs make me sick. As long as there is one taxpayer left who can still pay for groceries and rent at the same time, we'll have scum like Bob Kinnear and Sam Hammond calling press conferences to whine that their members aren't being paid enough.

    How to fight back.

    1) inconvenience the public
    2) run misleading ads under a fuzzy name like 'Working Families Coalition'
    3) indulge in thuggery

    How easy was that?

When I read the headline, I selected the article thinking it was something about the teachers learning how to fight back against their union, and finally start putting kids first.

    Guess not.

@Angry Bill Come on Bill, that will never happen. Thy won't be happy until they have a 4 day work week, 4 hours a day, with 12 days a month 6 time that they can bank......and on and on, because "their in it for the love of children"

those lazy union thugs should be working instead of trying to figure out how to get out of work...i'm sure there are 1000's of people who'd do their jobs for 1/2 the money!

@Mike This is why we need to get Tim Hudak into office in the next election. As soon as he brings in right-to-work, we'll see these unions thugs weeping on their knees as honest workers decide they don't want anything to do with them anymore.
