Province Pumps Money Into Brain Research
The province is investing $100 million over five years into brain research.
The Ontario Brain Institute will be putting the money towards research on depression and Alzheimer's disease. It builds on a previous government investment put funding towards epilepsy, autism and cerebral palsy.
Despite the province facing a $12 billion deficit, Premier Kathleen Wynne says investments like these can't afford to wait. Wynne says it not only improve treatment here in Ontario but also makes the healthcare system sustainable.
