UPDATE: Second body pulled from Nith River

Posted By: Dave Bradley · 3/5/2013 7:52:00 PM

Provincial police divers have recovered two bodies from the Nith River near Cambridge where a transport truck left Highway 401 and plunged into the river late Tuesday morning.

Authorities say it's believed the truck, which was hauling computer equipment, had two drivers inside when the truck went into the Nith River  at 11:30 a.m. Provincial police Const. Lisa Narancsik says the truck's cab was completely submerged.

As police and emergency crews worked at the scene of the crash, debris from the truck - including computers - could be seen floating in the water.

Traffic from the highway's eastbound lanes is being diverted to an exit at Highway 403 while police investigate.

I just heard a commercial that had a "cheery" voice making light of the truck crash, and to "check out our great photos". I believe there was a fatality, so this is really in poor taste. I expect more from this station.
