We can now confirm that shots have been fired at Thistletown Collegiate in Rexdale.

The school is on Islington south of Albion, and police say they are just getting on scene and trying to gather all of the details.

But what officers have told Newstalk1010 is that there was a robbery at the school.

A student was allegedly robbed of their cell phone.

When the suspects were leaving, the friends of the victim followed them. That's when shots were fired, with police confirming that bullets hit a van and the school doors.

But cops say there are NO injuries of students or teachers and the school remains under lockdown while police investigate.

Still too early to say if the people involved were students at the school.
