*UPDATE* Child Struck And Killed By Garbage Truck in Scarborough
It's a heartbreaking story out of Scarborough.
Three kids, possibly walking home from school, were struck by a garbage truck, with a 5 year old girl being pronounced dead.
It happened just before 4 o'clock in the intersection of East Haven and Cliffside Road.
There are no crosswalks in that area and very limited sidewalks, and if you factor in the snowbanks, it doesn't leave much in the way of a roadway.
There's also a large hedge on one corner of the intersection that could have obstructed the view of the truck driver.
Two of the children are being taken to hospitals in Toronto, with what EMS say are serious injuries. Both, however, are expected to live.
A 5 year old girl has been confirmed dead.
The Traffic Services Divison of Toronto Police is taking over the investigation and we hope to get more information from them shortly.
More to come.
