A 43-year-old golfer has a dislocated shoulder after he fell into a sinkhole at a golf club in Illinois.

Mark Mihal was on the 14th hole when the sinkhole opened up. It was about 5.5 metres deep.

Friends were able to get him out using a rope.

He says he's lucky all he got was an injured shoulder. He adds that he's not sure whether he will play at Annbriar Golf Club again.

Sinkholes are very common in Illinois.
