Education Minister Stands By School Physical Activity
The province says your kids are getting enough exercise in school.
Education Minister Liz Sandals reveals the provincially mandated 20 minutes of physical activity your child gets each day, doesn't have to be from a gym teacher but just a physically active one.
Sandals says when her kids were in school, their teachers lead a classroom dance each day.
This comes after a report from People for Education found only 45 per cent of the 1,000 schools they polled has a physical education teacher and health teacher on staff.
Many of these schools only had part-time phys. ed. staff.
The report revealed because of these staffing shortages, most students don't get those mandatory 20 minutes.
