LISTEN: War Of Words Between Vaughan and MGM
Toronto City Councilor Adam Vaughan could be in some hot water over comments he made on Newstalk1010's Moore in the Morning on Monday.
Vaughan claimed that MGM Resorts had been barred from operating a casino in New Jersey because of connections to organized crime.
He was alluding to a business partnership in Hong Kong, where MGM is operating a casino with businesswoman Pansy Ho.
It's her father who has the alleged ties to organized crime, but MGM says even he has never been convicted.
Alan Feldman is with MGM and says that none of Vaughan's comments are true.
Feldman says the report in New Jersey was preliminary, and never fully adjudicated, and called for them to sever their partnership or sell their stake in the Hong Kong casino.
He says they put their interest in the Jersey casino in trust, and continue to operate that way.
And, Feldman says they've been given licenses in Nevada, Massachusetts and Mississippi since the report in New Jersey.
