Unpaid traffic fines mean no license plate renewal

Posted By: Michelle Rosa · 3/19/2013 6:18:00 AM

If you have any unpaid traffic fines whether they are for speeding, illegal turns or things of the like,  you won't get your license plate renewal sticker until you pay up.

The Ontario government will introduce legislation later this week to expand the number of road violations that will be subject to a denial of license plate renewals.  Right now you get nailed for not paying parking tickets, red light camera tickets and 407 tolls.

Now it'll include: speeding, improper lane changes, driving with no insurance and careless driving.

The transportation ministry basic violations of the highway traffic act and failing to have insurance make up 70 percent of unpaid fines that are owed to the government, which is about $669-million.

@jhon You are an excellent example of why our children need to stay in school. Pick up a book, it won't hurt you.

@jhon The point is...if you do something wrong and get caught, you pay for it. Its called being responsible for your actions. Enjoy walking to work, riding your bike and taking the TTC :)
