Durham Regional Police are looking for a suspect after a woman was robbed and sexually assaulted in Ajax.

Authorities say the 28-year old was walking through a park near Roland Michener Public School, near Westney Road and Kingston Road West, around 9:00pm Thursday, when the suspect approached her.

Allegations are he flashed a handgun and demanded the woman's valuables.

Durham Regional Police Sgt. Nancy Van Rooy says the suspect then sexually assaulted the woman and took off.

The woman went to a neighbour and called for help.  Paramedics treated her for minor injuries.  She was also taken to hospital to be looked over by a doctor.

Police describe the suspect as a black man with a thin build, about 5'8" tall, wearing dark clothing, dark jeans, running shoes and wearing a dark covering on his head.
