Teens charged in murder of 13-month-old baby

Police in Brunswick, GA have charged 2 teens with murder in the shooting death of 13-month old.

The boy & his mother were shot during an attempted robbery Thursday morning during as she pushed him in his stroller.

17-year-old De'Marquis Elkins & 14-year-old boy have been charged.

Police announced the arrests after combing school records & canvassing neighbourhoods. The Chief says the motive of the "horrendous act" is still under investigation.

The mother, Sherry West, wept Friday while she told The Associated Press she pleaded with the gunman.

"He asked me for money and I said I didn't have it," she said. "When you have a baby, you spend all your money on babies. They're expensive. And he kept asking and I just said 'I don't have it.' And he said, 'Do you want me to kill your baby?' And I said, 'No, don't kill my baby!'"

West says the gunman fired 4 shots, the first into the ground. She didn't see a shell casing ejected & assumed the gun wasn't real.

Then he fired at her head & the bullet grazed her left ear - she has a small scab & bruising there. He fired again & shot her in the left leg above the knee. "I didn't know I was hurt."

"The boy proceeded to go around to the stroller and he shot my baby in the face," she said. "And then he just shoved me when I started screaming and he ran down London Street with the little boy."

It's not the first time West has lost a child to violence. Her 18-year-old son, Shaun Glassey, was killed in New Jersey in 2008.

Glassey was killed with a steak knife during an attack involving several other teens on a dark street corner in Gloucester County, NJ, according to news reports from the time.

When I read the headline I assumed the baby was caught in a crossfire or something. This piece of filth actually targeted and killed a 13 month-old child? And why did he run off with the boy? To dump the evidence? There are no words for this. None.
And I just read a news item on this site where another piece of garbage used a senior as a sheild in a shootout. What the hell is happening? Every time I think I've seen the worst, somebody out there tops it. I shudder to imagine the next atrocity that will make this one seem minor.
This world is f*@ked. And it's only going to get worse.

May be it is time Western countries wake up and smell coffee to understand that they have developed well except in child upbringing. I was in London {UK} few days ago, you honestly do not want to be in East London. It is all about youth violence, and yes I went there for a 17 year old son of my friend was stabbed 14 times by a fellow teenager. And yet we cannot stand up to raise this issue for a true old Canadian will stand up and yup the kids human right crap. Greg we have shootings in this city and people die, just last night a kid was shot on Bleecker street and died, but as a man that follow these issues and think I am informed, do not be worried about guns in this city for they are not a problem really, be very worried about knives for there are more knives in this city as you care to think. But because we have failed to bring kids up in a parental kid manner we have kids that have very higher expectations when they want to do nothing. Most of the people you see working today got their jobs for my father took me where he works, these kids do not want to work and they do not follow their fathers for the moment you ask him to go to work he says no, and the moment you push him hard that he has to go to work, Children Aid Society gets a job to save him from you the Monster. End of the story? He ends up un employed but depressed. Down town Toronto has such a high number of depressed children that Ryerson University has its own depression clinic on a street I think called Guild street. Now tell me when you were growing up did you have a depression clinic? Why do these kids have it? What would depress you to need a clinic? You did what you were told to do and society moved on. Nope a Canadian system tells you that if you’re a child you have more rights than your parents, and your parents are always wrong and if you have questions ask children aid society. An organization accountable to no body but paid depending on how many children they have. Now tell me honestly how that can works.

When you have kids of that mental set up they have to be depressed at the rate we see in teens in Toronto, now when they get knives as I know they hold, I will never sit in a subway train for you do not know how mangled is your fellow passenger. And that is my personal policy, I do not use TTC for I fear getting cramped up with people I do not know when I know most of them have mental issues and I know they own knives. I have a friend who has a kid under a very same issue and they have struggled with the system to get her therapy now for 5 months for the system is simply too full. In UK this problem exists too but in UK you get in right away, in Toronto you can only get into therapy if you are paying cash. So you end up with Police Officers driving these people from hospitals to CMHC to what have you and every one crying nope we are full. Get very worried about mental issues for it is the only single danger that will make you think twice before you leave your apartment. You cannot combine failing people to be parents and you do not offer therapy to the worms that come out of those families, and think you can live in a safe community. That simply does not happen even in heaven.

On what I have seen on the streets of this city, be very afraid for the worst has not showed up yet.
