UPDATE: Student contracts TB in a Toronto high school
School officials say that another case of tuberculosis has been confirmed at a Toronto high school.
One person at Chaminade College School, near Black Creek Dr and Lawrence Ave, has been sent home to recover.
It has been confirmed that the person affected, is a student but they couldn't say from which grade.
This comes just a few weeks after another case of TB at Mary Ward Catholic Secondary School.
Corrado Maltese, safety manager with the Toronto Catholic District School Board, says staff are taking precautions by implementing their cleaning and infection control protocol. It involves additional disinfection of door handles, stairway handles, tables, desks and phones.
Kris Scheuer with Toronto Public Health says there is low risk to others at the school.
"The general school population is at low risk of exposure and only those who had close, prolonged contact with this individual require follow up," she says in an email.
She says the individual who is ill is at home and doing well.
