WATCH: Toronto elephants leave for California
It was a long time in coming, but finally after several hours and what seemed like numerous delays, the 3 Toronto Zoo elephants are headed to the PAWS Sanctuary.
Just after 10:30 p.m., Thursday, Two flat bed trucks carrying Iringa, Thika and Toka left the zoo and headed for their forever home in northern California.
The move was said to begin early Thursday morning, but that had been set back because of delays. It's still unclear the nature of those delays, however Zoocheck Canada believed it was caused by zoo workers, attempting to sabotage the move.
The zoo has denied those claims.
The elephants now begin their 50-60 hour trip to California before they will be released to the officials at the PAWS Sanctuary.
