Man charged in fatal hit-and-run
An arrest has been made in connection to a Sunday morning robbery and fatal hit-and-run.
It's alleged that a man robbed a taxi driver outside an apartment building on Kennedy Road, south of Merrian Road. The suspect then took off in a 2006 Ford F150 pick-up and struck a 22 year old male pedestrian who was crossing the street near Eglinton Avenue.
After the pedestrian was struck around 12:45 a.m., the driver fled the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity hasn't been released.
24 year old Anthony Sowkey is facing multiple charges including, including robbery while armed with a firearm, dangerous operation causing death, criminal negligence causing death, impaired driving causing death, failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm then death, and operation while disqualified.
He has a court appearance scheduled for Monday, October 21.
