Landlord accused of taking secret nude videos of tenant & posting footage online
A Toronto landlord faces several charges on allegations a woman was secretly videotaped while she was naked and the video was posted on the Internet.
Police allege a man rented a room at his downtown home, in the Richmond and Spadina area, to the victim and while she was staying there, he videotaped her while she was undressed.
Toronto Police Cst. Victor Kwong says the victim was unaware she was being videotaped, but she was later contacted by a friend who recognized a nude image of her that was posted online.
56-year old David Sealy is charged with one count of voyeurism, mischief and defamatory libel.
Kwong was not able to say what will happen to the video footage now but says police will follow up with the website the videos were uploaded to.
"We do our best to ask local servers and reputable servers to pull them down but that doesn't stop the ones that don't conform to Canadian laws and reside outside of Canada," he says.
Kwong adds investigators believe there could be more victims, and are asking anyone who may have rented a room from the accused to contact Toronto Police or Crime Stoppers.
