WATCH: TTC considering renaming subway lines
The TTC is considering renaming its subway lines with numbers.
Commissioners are discussing the possibility at a meeting today, and a pilot project is expected to be launched by the end of the year.
Under the new system being considered, the Yonge-University line would be called "1," the Bloor-Danforth line would be named "2," and so on.
TTC chair Karen Stintz says the current naming system is confusing for newcomers.
"Being able to navigate the system more effectively remains an issue for the TTC," Stintz says.
The TTC's chief customer service officer Chris Upfold says the cost of the pilot project and a full rollout will not be known until the pilot is complete.
