Liberals to announce start of OMB review
Newstalk 1010 has learned the province will announce the start of its review of the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) on Thursday.
In August, Municipal Affairs Minister Linda Jeffery announced the province's intentions at an Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference.
Ontario will be looking specifically at land use planning and development for not only commercial and industrial sectors, but residential as well. This encompasses land assessment which takes into account not only environmental issues but community and economic factors.
Sources tell Newstalk 1010 the consultation process will wrap up early next year.
Opposition parties have criticized the Liberals for creating too many panels for consultation instead of making decisions on matters.
