Questions about alleged $70 million LRT penalty
The transportation minister is denying there is a $70 million penalty attached to a contract for new LRT cars.
And Tory Public Infrastructure Renewal critic Frank Klees says he's been told that penalty is growing.
But Glen Murray says he has no idea what Klees is talking about and the largest adjustment to the LRT contract with Bombardier has been $3 million because of alterations to the Scarborough transit expansion plan.
Klees claims the $770 million contract is between Bombardier and Metrolinx, which outlines the purchase of 182 LRT vehicles. He says taxpayers are being dinged for the penalties because delivery dates outlined in the contract were missed because transit projects haven't been completed on time.
