WATCH: Hudak pushes for city subway plan which includes a tax hike
The Tories are pushing for the Scarborough subway extension to go up to Sheppard avenue, even though that inadvertently means supporting property tax increases for Toronto residents.
However, PC leader Tim Hudak wouldn't say those words.
Hudak stood in front of Victoria Park subway station as rush hour commuters poured through the doors, brushing aside any questions that suggests he support a property tax increase.
He says the city is going to do what it wants in that regard.
In order to get the Bloor-Danforth line up to Sheppard Ave, there needs to be a tax hike along with promised federal and provincial money.
The province has backed a plan to go to Scarborough Town Centre which would be fully paid for by funding from Queen's Park.
However, teh premier has said they won't commit t anything until she hears from experts at the TTC and Metrolinx on which option is more viable.
