UPDATE: Several Injured After Multivehicle Crash in Mississauga
No less than five ambulances have made their way to a multivehicle crash in Mississauga.
Peel police say several people were hurt after an SUV crashed into a hydro pole at Dundas and Hurontario just after 6 p.m. Friday.
According to witnesses, the black Lincoln Navigator, for reasons unknown at this point, drove through approximately 16 vehicles, and a hydro pole shearing the pole in half.
6 patients have been transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries while 15 others were treated for minor injuries.
It's not clear exactly what happened leading up to the crash but the police collision reconstruction team is on scene trying to figure that out.
Hydro crews are on scene too. They're saying once they can fix the problem they'll have to shut off power in the area. No word on how many people could be affected.
In terms of the traffic closure on Hurontario, police say it could be hours before the area is reopened.
