Former chief of staff for Mayor Rob Ford, Nick Kouvalis joins in both to discuss the labour situation in the city, as well as the shift in focus now to the transit situation, and the hopes that plans will begin to be implemented. To close out the hour, Ombudsman Fiona Crean weighs in on the need for a Public Service Act in Toronto, followed by a quick rapid fire question and response exchange.

In hour 1 of 'The City' this week, Councillor Josh Matlow is joined in studio by Councillors Joe Mihevc and Joe Parker. As heard first on Newstalk 1010 this morning, the city has reached a tentative deal with CUPE local 416 in the labour negotiations for the city's outside workers, and the Councillors spend the first hour discussing the process leading up to the agreement, and the aftermath. They also speak with leader of the city's library workers union, Maureen O'Reilly, to discuss the library budget battle.

Topics discussed include saving several programs that were slated for cancellation, effects of the budget surplus on the TTC, and the city's debt. Councillor Matlow also proclaims that based on his polling of the 'Midd'e, Mayor Ford will not be able to pass his elimination of the Land Transfer Tax.

In hour 1, the councillors discuss the latest in the 'Armegeddon budget', and what their hopes are for the upcoming year. Former Mayor David Crombie joins to contribute his thoughts, as well as discuss the city's pools, and his letter on the TCHC homes. City resident Susana Molinolo calls to mention her thoughts on the pools, and showing up at the executive meetin gin a wetsuit to demonstrate them. The councillors then discuss the cuts to the TTC, and the future of transit planning.
