It's not what you might expect from an Arts Festival.
For the uninitiated (read: myself) art can be rather dry; static. I enjoy the occasional walk around the art gallery, or sitting watching a play. But I watch it from afar. It isn't a contact sport.
Which is what makes the Blackoutfest (blackoutfest.ca) completely different.
Thursday night was the 'industry night' for the festival that goes from August 10th to the 19th.
Just by what I experienced there, throw all of your expectations out the window. It isn't just about the art work on the walls, or even about the expressive dancing - it's about how close they get, and how inclusive it is.
The festival (and I got a good idea of what it will be) will be one that will bring you in to the artists mind. It's interactive, and honest.
