This is one of those incidents, you'd wish the person thought ahead to what might go wrong.

Because it's a good chance this would have never happened in the first place.

The BASE jumper was attempting a stunt on a gymnast's bar.... on the egde of a cliff.

How could anything go wrong.

Oh, and it was live on TV.

Go wrong it did though, when the bar suddenly collapsed and Richard Henriksen went flying over the edge.

Believe it or not, he survived, clearing past the face of the cliff and opening his parachute on the way down.

He said he never realized how close he came to death, until later, when he was playing with his two young kids at home.

"I sat with the two youngest children, reading and singing to them. Then it dawned on me that my children could have been without a dad."
