Figure Skaters' Fight
It's not unusual to hear about rowdy hockey players in town for a tournament causing a ruckus in their hotel but it's rare indeed to hear a similar tale about figure skaters.
The Canadian Figure Skating championships were held in Mississauga last week and things wrapped Saturday night. There was some partying at the Delta Meadowvale Hotel and Conference Centre. The hotel tried to quiet down the skaters but gave up and called police at 5 a.m. yesterday.
Police got there and ordered the skaters to their rooms. No crimes were committed but there was a bit of a fight going on.
Skate Canada is investigating and has indicated there could be sanctions. Let it be a slap on the wrist. There's no point reading the riot act over something that just got a little rowdy.
