Ford Finally Gets it Right

For those of you convinced I am part of the cabal trying to destroy Rob Ford, wait for it:  A smart political move by the Mayor.

He's made it clear that he will not be asking the taxpayers to pick up his legal costs for the conflict-of-interest case, for which he was exonerated.

That legal tab is $116-thousand and the city has insurance to cover these types of cases but Ford told the Sun "why would I have the taxpayers pay for it even though there is insurance?" He wants the man who filed the complaint Paul Magder, and his lawyer Clay Ruby to pick up the tab, because they lost.  In Rob Ford's words "I'm sorry...they lost, they pay. The taxpayer's shouldn't have to pay."

It's phrases such as those that explain why the Mayor remains in the good books of many Toronto voters.

    No one who has followed Ford should be surprised. Nor should we be surprised that the likes of Ruby suggest the taxpayers or the city insurance should pay the costs. Exactly the attitude we expect from freeloaders

      @proton ...but insurance rates are still going to go up.



      ps. how are the ontario liberals doing with that review of car insurance? didn't they start one a few years ago, when they cut our benefits by 50% and we didn't get any discounts?

    Ford should pay back the TDSB for money already spent on the education of his family members that chose to take to Disneyland. He woukd be fined in the UK.

    Mayor Ford is looking out for the taxpayer. It is such a new idea for a Mayor that the leftists can't handle it. They also know that it makes them lok bad as all they want to do is spend - isn't it Adam Vaughan who said "we have insurance to pay" which of course he would do.

    Dot Mac's comment is ridiculous - picking, picking on Mayor Ford for anything. It's amazing how petty the leftists can be. They're like spoiled children, didn't win this one, so look for sometihng else.

    Mayor Ford is trying to improve Toronto's City Hall's spending and they keep trying to distract us from his accomplishments.

    Good work Mayor Ford - you're doing things right!

      @Brandy Picking?? The whole UK is picking on Ford by having laws about truancy?
      Why can't Ford go on break like other parents in 1.5 weeks?--ohhh it would cost more and be more crowded-- oh dear , that is only for the common folk!?!

    Finally something that makes sense. Either way - not voting for him the next round. there's 1 out of x number of cases that's good. Everything else is sad with this Mayor. I would rather elect someone who has a stronger sense of stewardship, sense to fight for the core of human race i.e. family, stewardship of his own heath. I agree with Mark. We shouldn't expect someone who doesn't take care of his own health to take care of an entire city. If so, we shouldn't be surprised of the downfall or we are kidding ourselves
