POLL: Wynne Liberals and Hudak PC's in deadlock

The Forum poll puts both the Liberals and PC's at 36 percent support, while the NDP sits 20 percent.

If the Ontario election were held today, it would be too close to call between the incumbent Liberals and the Progressive Conservatives.

Forum Research has numbers from its automated phone call polling system from Tuesday showing a deadlock.

Kathleen Wynne's Liberals and Tim Hudak's PC's each have 36 percent of decided voters, while Andrea Horwath and her New Democrats languish 16 points back at 20 percent. When comparing a Forum poll last week, the Liberals have dropped 5 points, the PC's have gained 2 and the NDP is flat.

It appears 36 percent would not be enough for any one party to form a majority. Forum President Lorne Bozinoff tells the Star that the Liberals and PC's each need four points to get to 40 and either one of them at 40 is probably going to get a majority.

He says "the big crap shoot now is the (leader's) debate, which is next Tuesday."

The corrupt liberals go into every election with a huge advantage. They have the selfish public sector unions and teacher pigs wrapped up because they virtually pay them with our money to vote for them. Then of course they have the families of these inconsiderate pigs wanting to protect that flow of cash. Then all they need is to convince a small percentage of empty headed idiots that a con government will burn the province to the ground and there you go - Presto bammo = librano corrupt useless wasteful money hungry government.

The only light on the horizon is that pollsters have been very wrong lately. I'm still holding out for a con majority and a liberal crush-fest.

@Mark The seat count favours the Libs. The Cons will get seats in Southern & Eastern ON probably nothing in the North which means the 905 is the battleground.

@Sonny There are at least 2 surprises in eastern Ontario - in favour of the Liberals and directly out of the Cons' numbers.

@Mark Well, I don't think the "pigs" and public sector union members make up that much of the electorate, if they did would Hudak go on full force attack? Truth is nobody trusts Hudak, I myself don't want to vote liberal, but I can't vote for Hudak, Yes there are scandals and boondoggles, but lets face it, EVERY elected party will have there fair share, sad but true and whoever gets elected will have there fair share 4 years from now...and as far as manufacturing jobs go, we cannot compete with other countries that pay $4 an hour and no safety standards, blame "pig" corporations for that.
    4. Sherwin posted on 05/29/2014 05:20 PM
@Barry The difference between a pig business and a pig union is that at least the business benefits other people by creating jobs that in turn produce goods or services. All a union provides is membership of a union, and a pair of shiny black jackboots to stomp on your employer's face with until he shuts the company down and leaves you unemployed.
    5. Alex Von Kwepee posted on 05/29/2014 09:39 PM
@Sherwin Consider that belonging to a union gives the privilege of supporting the union heads in a very cushy lifestyle. Life is good in a union. Free travel, excellent dining, the list goes on...
    6. Barry posted on 05/30/2014 08:45 PM
@Sherwin Jackboots? hmmm, if we left corporations to reign at free will, would women receive equal pay? would there be paid holidays?, I think you have it backwards...corporations benefit stockholders, profits above all else, at least unions give the average person a voice in the workplace...yes some companies will move production to 3rd world countries where they can do as they please, but i say screw them jackboots lol funny as the nazis where extreme right wingers
    7. Barry posted on 05/30/2014 08:49 PM
@Alex Von Kwepee And CEO's are hard done by...those hellish conditions and skimpy buyout packages, dipping into retirement funds...corporations=benefit for the few and elite...unions stop there attempts at total control of people.

Don't hold your breath waiting for the Hudak Tea Party Cons to win, especially now that the Conference Board of Canada has destroyed the myth of the "gazillion jobs plan".

Most of the Ontario electorate apparently didn't buy into that nonsense to begin with, and, now that we're at the point where most voters start to pay serious attention, you will see the Cons' numbers slide dramatically.

Sorry, Tim - we're just not that gullible or stupid.

@Fact Provider it's called so desperate to win that you turn to conservative voodoo economics.
every economist i've heard talking about it in the press shoots his numbers down as 100% bogus
    2. Frankie posted on 05/29/2014 09:15 AM
@Fact Provider ACTUALLY, Liberal voters are actually that gullible and stupid. You don't want to support Hudak because his promised numbers are way off base. That's his crime!

Now let's look at the Liberals and let's forget promises and deal with ACTUAL details. A government that has "stolen" $ 1 Billion to save 3 seats, a government that has mismanaged over $ 6 Billion, a government that has lied continually, etc. etc. etc. They've PROVEN their corruption and incompetence.

Anyone with minimal intelligence can discern the difference between an exaggeration and a factually based record.

Thank you for defining the Liberals.

      @Donna Thiffault translation is!
conservatives are so desperate to win they know as we near the end of the campaign and their support is dwindling down they will stop at nothing, look for any dirt, anything to win.
every economist is laughing at their jobs plan and the numbers, they have no ideas for transit or how to pay. they know this is Hudak's last kick so all guns blazing. what do you expect them to do? they've tried everything else
That's what this is nothing else..
    5. Frankie posted on 05/29/2014 10:05 AM
@Donna Thiffault Yes, further proof of the corruption of the Liberals. Thanks to their stupid supporters the Liberals believe they can do anything and everything they want without consequences. Sadly, the voters have proven them right.
    6. Frankie posted on 05/29/2014 10:10 AM
@Bob and I'm sure every economist is applauding the theft, corruption, incompetence and lies of the Liberals. Even Dwight Duncan warned the Liberals of the dangers of the economy and their budget.

Anyone who keeps voting in this government can only be described as completely devoid of the slightest intelligence OR they're a civil servant being lavished with these excesses
    7. frank posted on 05/29/2014 10:24 AM
@arthur Do you even know how many employees there are in Ontario?
Statscan says 1.33M gov. workers (all levels) plus 6.8M private sector workers. Hudack is promising 125,000 new private sector jobs a year or an increase of less than 2% in job numbers.

With the Liberal stuffing gone, this will be easily accomplished.
    8. Jack posted on 05/29/2014 10:30 AM
@Fact Provider Considering that the Liberal and NDP platforms revolve around increasing our debt, pushing more jobs outside of Ontario, and handing out taxpayer money to special-interest groups, the PC plan is still by far the best option.

Unless you actually have any defense of the Liberals or NDP to offer?
    9. Angry Bill posted on 05/29/2014 10:55 AM
@Fact Provider Liberal voters ARE that gullible and stupid.

No one believes the million jobs thing. But you know what? So what. Check out this article I came across written by Andrew Coyne. It actually sums things up nicely. Well worth the read, even if you're liberal.

Basically, no one cares that Tim Hudak has hung his hat on this million jobs fallacy, and is running full bore ahead with it. The fact remains, The liberals want to tax and spend us into oblivion. So does the NDP. The PCs are the only party saying "hang on a minute, we can't keep increasing the tax and spend thing. Let's try to cut back a little." The PCs are the ONLY party who wants to cut back a bit instead of tax and spend even more.

Hello, Ontario... wakey wakey... Do you have any understanding what happens when you increase spending with money you do not have? When the payments on our provincial debt are already at record billions of dollars that we pay every year? That's money that doesn't go to health care, eduction or anywhere else. And everyone except the PCs are okay with increasing that.

All the liberal scandals, lies, criminal activities and self-serving boondoggles aside, for the above reason alone, that should be enough to turf them out. And yet you guys still vote for them. It's just incomprehensible.. How do you combat insanity? The very definition of insanity means you don't do things that are common sense or logical, except in some bizarre reality you've concocted in your own head.
  3. frank posted on 05/29/2014 10:18 AM
Hudak is offering a 10% provincial tax cut. Take one third of your taxes and divide by 10 to get the number. I think it s about $400 to $800 for most.

Wynne feels having one out of every 8 Ontarians on the payroll is not enough. The cost of surplus employees (300,000 in Ont. all levels of gov.) is about $2,000 per person. Family of 4? $8K per year, just for surplus workers. She plans to borrow $5B ($500 more per person per year, over the excess $1,000/citizen Ont. already overspends)

As a loyal citizen I want my $2,000 per year back so I can create jobs by spending in the economy.

It's a no-brainer for anyone who can count. We have way too much gov. waste. When waste is cut. prudent planning can make fast work of transit needs, homecare, etc. Wynne just wants to expand gov. and cement our problems in place, with more boondoggles to come.
  4. lisa posted on 05/29/2014 10:27 AM
The Conservatives are offering tax refunds, new jobs ,which will easily realized with Liberal waste removed, and a transit fix.

Adding 125,000 jobs a year on top of 8.2M working now, is easy peesi.

@lisa A million new jobs. A million new part time or temp jobs.
Now if Tim plans on building 3,333 new Walmart Supercenters with an average of 300 mostly part time jobs then he has got the formula!

Vote for John Tory for Mayor of Toronto!

Let's all vote "Liberal" because a vote for the Liberals means that:

    • you agree that it is OK to run a huge deficit (almost $300 billion) in Ontario. That you are OK with the fact that the deficit was doubled in the last 10 years, and now equals more than all the other provinces combined.
    • that you support adding a further 15 billion to the deficit in 2014, and you accept there is no clear plan to bring spending under control in the near future.
    • that you are OK with the fact that the cost to fund the debt will be $10.3 billion and counting and is the 3rd largest cost to the Province, and you know that interest rates will not rise in the future, and you are counting on that Credit Agencies such as Moodys, S&P, etc. will NOT lower your credit rating.
    • you agree it is OK to waste billions of your money through Liberal government mismanagement on ehealth, Ornge, gas plants, etc. You do not believe anyone should be held accountable.
    • you are OK with the fact that your tax dollars were used to buy 2 Liberal riding votes.
    • you agree that you want a government that covers up scandals, hides files, lies and even has hard drive records erased.
    • you agree it is OK that Ontario will have the highest cost of energy in North America, but you buy into the economic rhetoric that despite high energy costs Ontario will prosper as more employers will seek to relocate and manufacture in Ontario, and this will mean more new jobs for your children.
    • you agree that you want the Ontario government to tax you (and your employer) more for an Ontario only Pension Plan. You want this rather than having the chance to invest this money which you have earned through hard work in yourself. You agree that your government (who are wise handlers of money) will do a better job investing your money than you could possibly do for yourself.
    • you agree to support a government that is OK with a double standard of law for its citizens (ie. Caledonia)
    • you agree that despite paying the highest tax increase as a "Health Tax" in Ontario history (despite being promised you would have NO TAX increases) that your tax money HAS been spent wisely.... your health care has improved dramatically, your wait times for MRI's etc. are way down, and you are happy to go to a hospital emergency centre knowing you will not have long to wait.

Do we all have enough good reasons now to vote Liberal?
