Canada Day at Mel Lastman Square

 

This July 1st, NEWSTALK 1010 is celebrating Canada Day at Mel Lastman Square. Celebrate  Canada's 147th birthday with an evening of live music and a spectacular fireworks show. It’s free and all are welcome to enjoy the evenings festivities. The event runs from 5pm- 10:30pm which ends with a massive fireworks display.

Schedule of events

5, 6 & 7 pm - A thrilling cirque performance by Zero Gravity Circus. Circus Wonderland is an aerial acrobatics spectacle based on Alice in Wonderland

5 pm – 8 pm - Face painting, hair painting and temporary Canadian flag tattoo art by the Picasso Painters

8:05 pm - 2014 JUNO award-winner and Toronto-based alterative-country singer-songwriter Justin Rutledge will be performing solo songs from his new album Daredevil, featuring the songs of the Tragically Hip

9 pm -  Roots rockers NQ Arbuckle will be performing music from their latest release The Future Happens Anyway with special guests

10:15 pm -  Fireworks show by Circus Orange. Circus Orange combines live action performance with pyrotechnics, special effects, stunts and rigging, blurring the line between performance and technology in a pure entertainment experience

Scarborough’s 47th Annual Canada Day Celebration
Scarborough’s 47th annual Canada Day celebration will be held in Thomson Park from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday, July 1. This free event will include a free pancake breakfast, buskers, bouncy inflatables, entertainment and a craft show/sale. Old Style Community Picnic
The Old Style Community Picnic will be held at the Broadlands Community Centre and Park from 1:30 to 4pm. This free event is hosted by the O’Connor Hills Ratepayers Association in conjunction with Toronto's Parks, Forestry and Recreation Division. Activities include face painting, games, clown entertainment and folk singing. More information is available at 416-395-7966.

Fireworks at Ashbridges Bay Park
The annual Canada Day fireworks display at Ashbridges Bay Park is presented by North Star Fireworks. The free fireworks will begin at 10pm. Residents who are planning to attend are encouraged to leave personal vehicles at home and use public transit.

East York’s 57th Annual Canada Day Parade
Hosted by East York Toronto Canada Day Corporation in co-operation with Toronto's Parks, Forestry and Recreation Division, East York’s 57th annual Canada Day parade will start with marching bands at Dieppe Park at 10am and then travel east to Stan Wadlow Park, where the motorcade is scheduled to finish at noon.

Celebrations at Stan Wadlow Park
The celebrations at Stan Wadlow Park will begin at 11am and finish at 11pm. Residents will be able to enjoy live entertainment and a display of antique cars. The Kiwanis Pool will be open from noon to 7pm. The fireworks display will start at 10:15pm and the park will close at 11pm. Admission is free.

15th Annual Toronto Ribfest/Canada Day
The 15th annual Toronto Ribfest will be held at Centennial Park throughout the Canada Day long weekend from June 27 to July 1 (11am to 11pm daily), with 16 professional ribbers. There will be live music and midway rides, and a spectacular Canada Day fireworks display at 10pm on July 1. Admission and parking are free.

Annual Canada Day Event at Amesbury Park
The annual Canada Day free event at Amesbury Park will start at 11am. Activities include a barbecue, live entertainment, marketplace, strongman competition and activities for children, plus fireworks at 10pm. More information at amesburycanadaday.ca
