How It All Began New Design

My sister Michelle was born when I was already 16 so I had the privilege of seeing her art evolve throughout her childhood. She brought home dozens of drawings each week from pre-school, camp, and a host of art classes.
But sadly, the drawings went from being displayed on the fridge to being buried in a dismal box in the basement. From wacky shapes to advanced illustrations, Michelle’s creativity was getting forgotten.

The Bright Idea

The idea for Budsies came when I saw Michelle hugging her stuffed animals and tucking them in at night. What if I could turn a drawing into a stuffed animal friend that would last forever? Quite literally bring her drawings to life!

Living for today

The suddena and untimely passing of Jim Flaherty has me thinking about the idea of putting off the things we intend to do some day.

Flaherty died suddenly only days after stepping down from public service with plans to enjoy more time with his family and to explore possibilities in the private sector. Neither will happen.

Years ago, just after 9-11 I met a man who had been at work in his office in one of the twin towers in New York. After the plane had hit the building he ran down the stairs, past the firefighters going the other direction.

I asked him whether the experience had changed his life. Here is what he told me.

About Jerry

Jerry Agar is the conservative host of the Jerry Agar Show which launched in 2010 and airs on NEWSTALK 1010 weekdays 9am to noon. He grew up in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba and started his radio career as an all-night DJ in Dauphin, Manitoba. He married an American and moved to the United States where he started his talk radio career in 2000 with a show in Raleigh, North Carolina.

From there he went to KMBZ in Kansas City and then to Chicago, where he worked on WLS in the morning, while doing an evening show for WABC in New York from studios in Chicago.

He was a writer for a think tank, The Illinois Policy Institute. He now does a weekly column for the Toronto Sun and occasionally appears as a commentator on Sun TV.
