Over 175 Olympians from the London 2012 Games will be in decorated vehicles, floats and walking the route waving and reaching out to the fans

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• The Parade will begin on Bay Street at Albert Street at 11:30 am, Friday, September 21

• Head south on Bay to Wellington Street

• West on Wellington to York Street

• South on York Bremner Blvd at the Parade Celebration site

• Distance: Slightly over 2 kilometers


The Parade will end in Maple leaf Square outside the Air Canada Centre with a Celebration. The Celebration begins the same time as the parade at noon and will end at 1:45pm. The celebrity host will welcome the students from the big stage at noon and get them excited for the arrival of the parade and athletes at approximately 12:35pm.

There seemed to be no doubt that Canadian hurdler Perdita Felicien would be in London right now, racing her way to the podium for the red and white.

Two months ago, when her pre-Olympics training was in full swing, she said that going to London would put an end to her 12-year pursuit of an Olympic medal.

"Going into this next Olympics, it's almost like that boyfriend who got away, that one you knew was great for you and you let him get away," Perdita says. "But I haven't had a chance to go back and make amends and that's kind of what my hope is for the London Olympics."

Perdita's first Olympics were in 2000. Then in 2004, she made the finals. But in a moment she hopes will not define her,she tripped on the first hurdle.

Canadian athletes to keep an eye on

This past week, Newstalk 1010 has introduced you to five Canadian athletes with some of the most inspiring stories. But there are dozens more athletes who will don red and white on the Olympic stage.

Canada hopes to finish 12th at the London Games. In order to do so, our athletes would have to step onto the podium about 18 to 20 times. That may not sound like a lot, but don't forget that this is the Summer Olympics, where there are more than 200 competing countries, compared to over 75 at the Winter Games.

If you're trying to figure out who to look out for the next two weeks, here are some Canadians of note:
