Olympic torch cheered through Regina
Young hockey players more used to cheering goals were instead cheering the Olympic torch Saturday evening as it went through downtown Regina. The players were trying to set the world record for the longest shinny game by distance, at about 825 metres. But they paused their game to watch the Olympic torch pass by.Clip of organizer Glenn Grad: "A lot of them, their favourite sport's obviously hockey," said Grad. "For them, you know they're dreaming about scoring goals for Team Canada. They all like to cheer on their favourite hockey hero so I think that's going to be something for these kids to look forward to when the Olympics start."The torch then headed for Mosaic Stadium, home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders where it was welcomed by an iconic Canadian symbol -- Mounties. But for some, the event was overwhelming.
