Toronto Man Charged in Alleged Fatal Hit-and-Run

Police have charged a 26-year-old Toronto man in an alleged hit-and-run north of the city that left a pedestrian dead

Police have charged a 26-year-old Toronto man in an alleged hit-and-run north of the city that left a pedestrian dead.

Investigators with York Regional Police say a 72-year-old man was fatally struck by a light-coloured Volvo while crossing the street (on Kennedy Road near Denison Street) in Markham on Saturday night, prompting a police search for the car.

They say a suspect turned himself in last night at a police station in nearby Richmond Hill.

Daniel Porter faces charges of failing to stop, failing to stop causing bodily harm and failing to stop causing death.

The force's collision investigation squad continues to probe the incident.
