The small community of Parry Sound is in shock after two boys were killed as they crossed the street.
It happened Friday morning at Seguin St and James St, a busy intersection in the town's core.
The boys, aged 21-months and seven years, were with their mother when they were hit in the crosswalk by a turning Ford F-250 pickup truck.
The children died in hospital. Their mother is expected to be released from hospital with minor injuries later today. The female driver of the truck wasn't hurt but is being treated for shock.
Police say the family hit is from the Parry Sound area.
Word of the loss of life spread quickly through the community of 5,500. A memorial of balloons, flowers and teddy bears is growing at the crash site with an eerie quiet in the streets.
Police are trying to determine if the truck had an advanced green light and if the intersection's pedestrian countdown clock was working properly. It doesn't seem like the 21-month old was in a stroller at hte time of the crash.
